Wine a little

I like wine...red in the cooler months and white in the warmer. I don't know why I'm temperature based, but I guess the red just seems heavier and warmer--kind of like most things you want around you when the temperature dips. Fall makeup is bring wine lips as an accent in full force, so I thought we'd look at some deep red pops for the home:

New Fridges in Town

We all know vintage appliances have served as art in the kitchen with bold colors, but now the traditional stainless models are getting a makeover as well. This summer, Whirlpool unveiled their new, sleek white fridge. The new "White Ice" finish as they are calling it may as well be a new Apple device with its combination of a white finish, stainless handles and mirrored glass. We all know how much I love a white kitchen, so this is perfect to blend in!

House Beautiful featured the new look in their Kitchen of the Year display at Rockefeller Center.

I think it also plays a nice contrast for those more modern kitchens that want to match their counters with their appliances.

Now, this black and brass refridgerator is GORGEOUS! It would be the mirror opposite of the White Ice. I could see it paired in the below kitchen.

What a contrast but all pulled together with the brass hardware on the cabinets and drawers!

Functional & Pretty Mud Rooms

With fall whipping into town, rain deluging the east coast from Hurricane Sandy and kids sports kicking into high gear, you can guess that the mud, dirt and gear is making its way back into the house. I love a mud room with hidden storage and practical features that look good. I'm not a fan of seeing all the clutter. Here are a few inspirations.

I love how the cabinets have icebox hardware and bench has a couple decorative pillows.

I love a ladder to reach high storage. Building cabinets to the ceiling is a must to maximize space.

These are 'lockers' in an elegant form. I love matching baskets for warmth and extra storage.

Great idea putting a doggie bed in the mix. I don't think most dogs would lie there, but who knows!
