Bar + Master Bathroom Before and After

Here are a few more pictures of the house renovation that include the hallway between the kitchen and dining as well as our master bath. For the bar area, we kept the layout the same, but added a wine cooler and new cabinetry. I'm not a fan of exposed 'stuff' for the sake of it looking like clutter so really wanted tall cabinets to replace the open shelves. And, you can also see the cooler wall color of Benjamin Moore's "Paperwhite" for the walls and BM "Super White" for the trim and BM "Decorator's White" for ceilings. Floors were refinished and stained in a Durostain's "Walnut."

For the bath, well, that took a bit more thought. The existing space had a corner shower that felt like a dungeon, a big jetted tub with surrounding blue and gray/white tiles, a floor-to-wall cabinet right inside the door and little privacy for the loo. We did our best to open up the space and use existing plumbing lines. Floors were custom cut marble and placed in a herringbone pattern. Marble for the shower trim and vanity counters is Bianca White. Lighting by Visual Comfort.

7 Palmetto Rd Before & After

It seems as if I have been gone from the blogging world forever! Two babies under 2, a house renovation and a second Etsy shop that has been overwhelmingly successful has made things a bit busy around here. But, it's time to get back to showcasing some of the projects. First, we rushed as much as we could even with contractor issues to finish up the renovation of our 1949 house before our daughter was born. We love the Charleston neighborhood that is a skip to downtown and has large lots with grand oaks dripping in spanish moss. Since we moved in and our 2nd daughter was born, decorating and furnishing has taken a back seat. A quick summary and then a few before and after sneak peeks. The house is a brick colonial style that was not in horrible shape, but it was dark and dated. We wanted a more clean, bright and crisp feel so we opened up the kitchen, added windows and airy doors, took down bath walls, darkened the floors and brightened up the walls and trim with fresh paint. Still so much to do, but for now, here is a peek at our kitchen and adjacent family room. We didn't work with a designer, rather I did my best to make my vision a reality.

Featured in Better Homes & Gardens

What a surprise it was when I opened up the September issue of Better Homes & Gardens to find one of my paintings featured in the Southern California home of Andrea & Ricky Schroder. Yes, you read that right, as in celebrity Ricky Schroder from Silver Spoons and NYPD Blue. In the article, "Surf's Up," interior designer Andrea wanted the 'inside and the outside of the house to read ocean.' Andrea ordered a print of my painting "A Marble State" from One Kings Lane and turned it on the vertical to adorn her ocean view dining room.
