Art Deco Inspo

I saw this Vivienne Westwood rug in Architectural Digest the other day and I swooned. Simple, elegant, pretty. Well, the price tag was just a mere $10,422 for a 6'x9'. Choke.

The Art Deco design was not too far off from a hexagon starburst pattern that I had already designed in a series of blues. Loving the Lumbar

This picture was a key inspiration for our master bedroom. But, trying to find a long lumbar in a fabric I liked was painful.

So, I set on a mission to create pillows in lumbar shape because there is a huge gap in the market today. All lumbars shown below are 14x24, but can be customized to any width/length, which I just did for an interior design firm in Chapel Hill, NC. What to do with your Ranch?

There seem to be so few resources out there showing "good" renovations and remodels of ranch and split-level homes. And, when I say 'good', I mean it. There are a ton of pictures of 2nd story additions on a ranch with a huge pitched roof that screams, "Look at all my shingles!" I realize ranches and split levels are a huge challenge to make visually appealing upon an expansion, but there are surely some good options out there. Here are a few before and afters as well as afters that hopefully inspire those looking to move from 1953 to 2016.

 I honestly don't love this below house, but it could give you a few ideas.

 One of my favorite split level updates that didn't require much exterior construction:
