Going Amazon!

Yes, I'm going to Amazon. Not paddling down THE Amazon in South America, but rather to the world's largest online retailer. Today, the powerhouse retailer announced Amazon Art, on which it offers more than 40,000 works of fine art from over 150 galleries and dealers. Through my partnership with Uprise Art, which I will share more about soon, four of my paintings will be promoted and featured through Amazon Art.

If you don't think it's such a big deal, well then you aren't aware that Amazon Art will include works such as Claude Monet's Fragment de Nymphéas; Andy Warhol's Hamburger Michel and Norman Rockwell's Willie Gillis: Package from Home. These pieces are going to be listed for more than $1 million, with Rockwell's work listed at $4.85 million.

BUT, Amazon Art will also feature a variety of affordable art as well. I mean, it is Amazon after all and my paintings are definitely affordable! From prints starting at $25, you are bound to find something fabulous. Personally, I sell 98% of my work through online mediums. This will be a shake up to the art world, but I think it's long overdue and reflective of today's art consumer. Here are my original paintings on canvas to be included:

You can still purchase the original here. In the mean time, OKL defines the relaxed living room as "at once casual and elegant, laid-back with a touch of luxe." The team chose this selection of cozy sofas and chairs, art, finely crafted tables, and timeless rugs to bring style to the living room without sacrificing comfort.

Before & After Furniture Do's with Chalk Paint

I love a good bargain or a DIY that looks expensive. Just like finding that designer dress for 80% off, a furniture redo or paint job can take the cake in home decorating. I mean, take a 70's looking orange oak hutch like the first example below and turn it into some casual, chic white gem. Swap out some hardware, ditch some door fronts, and ta da! Here are some great before and after furniture redo's with chalk paint that are sure to inspire. You can check out my other chalk paint post here.

Eeeek!!!

Lovely.

Down to Earth

I have featured numerous homes and gardens from At Home Arkansas, and they did not disappoint with their latest issue. I love this bright and relaxed home designed by Melissa Haynes. The young family  wanted a 'green' home that was free of toxins and harsh chemicals, energy efficient and yet tranquil and traditional. How did Melissa achieve this?
-No VOC flooring, wallcoverings or paint
-Organic or soy fabrics, sustainable wood frames on furnishings, water-based finishes
-Sustainable materials where possible
-Water filtration system, HVAC improvements and added insulation
-Caesarstone countertops, an abundant natural mineral from a company that emphasizes sustainability

I would say they did a pretty fantastic job! You would never know that this was an eco-friendly home.
