Designer Feature: Jean Louis Deniot

Jean Louis-Deniot as the name might imply, is Parisian. As most European designers, he leans toward the modern, refined. Now, there are some very ornate interiors that he has decadently dripped with a more traditional style, but on the whole, it's "eclectic chic as well as serene." His words, and they have you thinking, "I'm in an upscale, posh city hotel." Interestingly enough, he did the Carlyle in NYC. Gray, gold, black...common themes. But, he knows when to put them aside for a project, such as Corsica. Here are a few of my top picks:

Do you know how hard it is to make a small bathroom elegant? I do! This is fabulous...and do you see those storage cabinets built into the wall? When you decorate Paris flats, you have to find space somewhere!

You are A. O.K. Arkansas

This may come as a shock, but I love Arkansas. I think it's a beautiful state with exceptionally down to earth, nice people. It's green and lush, has hills and mountains, you name it. I think the state gets a bad rap. Well, At Home Arkansas magazine is doing a phenomenal job letting the rest of America know that preconceived ideas of Arkansas are just plain wrong. There are stylish, design-minded people creating some fantastic interiors in that state. I also think At Home Arkansas has one of the best online sites for a home magazine, and I love their blog. Kudos to their team. Here are a few of my favorites:

Ooh La La

Yesterday was one rockin' Valentine's Day. First, I received a gorgeous new frock from Mike along with a delicious home cooked dinner set amidst candles. He then went the extra mile and accompanied me to the Grace Potter and the Nocturnals show. Seeing this show in such a small venue was killer...though I think Mike is still deaf in his left ear:-) Grace's voice is unbelievable, but what I love the most about her is that she is a ROCK STAR. You know, there really aren't many female rock stars out there today. She head bangs, plays the piano, and swaps out at least 3 different guitars during the show. And, she does it in a dress! To top off the day, I met her stylist for the night. Turns out Grace chose Cynthia Rowley...a short black dress with some sparkle paired with a sheer black tunic that was quite reminiscent of Stevie Nicks. Here are a few pics from the night along with some of my favorite style moments on Grace. But first, some tunes to get amped up for the weekend (try to tune out my voice)!

Gold Spray Paint DIYs

I can be lethal with a can of good, gold spray paint (Rust-Oleum is my 'go to'). From picture frames, home decor accessories to jewelry, I'll spray it. I've gone there on brand new Pottery Barn lamps to make them look like the more expensive Robert Abbey. You can see the post here. Here are a few other DIYs out there with the metallic can worth noting!

The Hunted Interior took a $45 Home Depot flush mount and combined some gold rub/buff with spray paint to take boring chrome and add warmth! Love this!

Oh Bethenny!

I love some Bethenny Frankel. She absolutely cracks me up. She 'goes' there on topics that she shouldn't and she's not fake. It's refreshing, and so is her apartment. It's also refreshing to see Traditional Home taking a step toward a little modern. Sad that Bethenny is going through personal struggles, but her refurbed TriBeCa loft sings with brightness and soft touches. All images via Traditional Home magazine.
